>Warehousing: within the supply chain receiving automated orders double checking arrived shipments and sent goods comparing them to paper work and established order within an ERP system is all automated including the exact location of the goods within a warehouse. In addition, information can be written on the tag at any stage within the supply chain. Information like average temperature during storage, expected delivery date, date of storing in current warehouse, etc. If active tagging are used many more information can be obtained by integrating the tag to other sensors. This opens up a whole other world of possibilities and uses.
>Airports and seaports: tagging of luggage is already adopted by Terminal 5 in Heathrow when it will be launched. Reliving a great deal of pressure from the airport management already overwhelmed by the other terminals. Seaports usage include placing active tags in standard 20 foot or 40 foot containers to increase security and monitor the shipping conditions of the goods. Sensors like light sensors, motion detectors, GPS etc. are being added to the active tag to actually monitor if the container has been opened, and walked into in location not authorized, and tracking of route of containers along the sea lanes for sensitive material can also be done and monitored by the owner of goods. Reporting is done either through satellite or through sea ports along the world when ship is docked.
> Healthcare: monitoring of test equipment and consumable stocks within a hospital is vital for its successful operations. Defibrillator and other mobile medical equipment are usually shared within hospitals and are subject to robust cleaning between patients usage. The RFID tagging help monitor to locate these machines, and certify if it was cleaned or not within a hospital. These systems are being deployed in the US, Norway and Finland. Many other application are being presently deployed around the world.
